La Fondita
About This Spot
Stepping into La Fondita in Amagansett, you find yourself embraced by an unhurried, inviting vibe that perfectly captures the spirit of a casual neighborhood spot with a lively Latin American soul. The warm wood picnic tables outside beckon you to linger, offering a space where conversations meander long and laughter feels easy under soft string lights or the fading glow of day.
Inside, the rhythm of the place pulses gently with moments of communal joy — whether it’s the hum of friendly chatter, the clinking of glasses, or the occasional burst of salsa music that livens up Tuesday nights. There’s an unmistakable charm here, a blend of familiar and spontaneous that invites both regulars and newcomers to unwind and savor the moment.
The food at La Fondita is deeply rooted in tradition but feels fresh and approachable, the kind of fare that sparks nostalgia without ever seeming static. Plates arrive brimming with vibrant colors and textures, featuring everything from tender grilled meats to crisp, avocado-topped tostadas. The kitchen’s offerings have a homey yet festive quality that pairs beautifully with the thoughtful touches — like a cool glass of authentic Mexican Coke or the delicate creak of churros filled with sweet custard.
What truly shapes the experience is the ease of the setting—a place where families gather, friends share guacamole and laughter, and even on a quiet afternoon, the atmosphere invites you to slow down and connect. The outdoor seating encourages a laid-back dining experience, where the breeze mingles with the scent of smoky spices and fresh ingredients, and time feels pleasantly suspended.
La Fondita is less about ceremony and more about a shared human moment — the joy found in simple pleasures, good company, and the vibrant flavors of Mexican cooking brought lovingly to the Hamptons. It’s a spot that welcomes you to savor not only the food but also the rhythms of local life, a little refuge that feels at once down-to-earth and distinctly alive.

Shrimp burrito was very good and not at all wet or greasy. Salad was little on the bland side but had a nice amount of avocado in there. They had a cute outdoor picnic bench area. Would come back again!

Delicious Mexican food. The kids loved the tacos and the guacamole and chips. There is a vegetarian taco, nothing vegan

Absolutely. Delicious!! Whole snapper was amazing. Mofongo was authentic and so wonderfully garlicky. But the winner of the meal was the flan. Oh and the mojito!! The red beans and rice could be a meal on their own.

La Fondita is our absolute favorite casual Mexican restaurant in the Hamptons. Order food at the counter and then sit outside on the picnic tables. Everything is great.

My girlfriend is latina and invited me. The food, the drinks, the women, the dancing, the women, the live salsa music on Tuesdays, the women, it's in Amagansett, did I mention the beauties that are all dancing together while the men sit there like wallflowers??? Nope I didn't it's sad. Men, if you go, dance with them, don't worry about the outcome if you know what I mean;) Just have a good time. Let them leave the place saying 'this guy had me dancing and laughing all night', but them a drink. I'm no dating coach, nor expert, but this is how I met my woman (sorry pardon me, 'my person' ) and she's hot and I'm not Brad Pitt. Anyway salsa night on Tuesdays is fiyah!

Real deal Mexican food! Fresh, delicious and very casual. I usually take-out but there are picnic tables to eat at there. Love their tortilla soup and my favorite is the Fondita salad! Tacos, burritos, all kinds of deliciousness!
